PUSBA is an Islamic Guidance Centre, established on 08 March 1998. Its construction costs and operating expenses are funded by the Kedah State Zakat Department. Originally, PUSBA was established to address the symptoms of apostasy among newly converted to Islam and indigenous Muslims so as to implement the resolution to create a special center to provide education on the teachings of Islam to them. However, due to the changes and demands of the current society, currently PUSBA also serves as a center to spread the teachings of Islam among non-Muslims and a center for strengthening the understanding and appreciation of Islam among Muslims especially the people in Kedah.
PUSBA has been operating in a three-storey building worth RM3.16 million in Sungai Petani since 1 April 1999. The location is quite strategic for the role it is responsible for. There is also a need to improve operations following the current social challenges that are taking place.
However, the current basic infrastructure available at the Centre is quite
limited to accommodate more participants. This center only provides 16 male and female dormitory rooms, 4 lecture rooms, a library, a multi-purpose hall, a dining hall and a prayer hall (200 persons).
The operational governance of PUSBA is led by a Principal who is responsible to the Governing Board. He heads two main sections namely Administration and Finance Division and Education and Counselling Division .
